NOVA International Schools Congratulates its IBDP students on a successful May 2014 session!
7/16/2014With 15 Diplomas earned, several courses successfully completed and anticipated candidates earning their IB stripes, we’d like to thank our students for coming full circle in a challenging and oftentimes strenuous academic programme. In terms of small and large victories, we’d like to acknowledge the exceptional work of few students whose high scores and overall top marks helped create both personal and communal victories in our little corner of the IB world: Simona Sarafinovska, on her resounding 43 points, Emilija Tashevska (41) , Ilina Dimitrovska (40), Sara Jankoska (38) and Aleksandra Kljuseva (39)!

Summer School and Summer Camp 2014
7/7/2014Even though our summer adventure has come to an end and we celebrated our accomplishments in a festive mood, we never said that this is the end of our journey together. On the contrary, it is a start of a wonderful friendship. As we take a plunge into summer we will remain continually inspired by all the students who showcased their talent; danced, sang, and delivered truly memorable lines during our NOVA summer school and camp final performance. It was a month of joy and adventure as we learned from each other and grew together regardless of whether we were testing our adventurous spirit by climbing mountains or reading a book. We managed to bridge the age gap, and proved once again the true value of education. Thus we promise to meet you again next year to recollect our poignant memories, and rewrite our story as we embark on new adventures.(Let us dream a dream together, and reach for the stars!)

First week of Summer School and Camp
6/25/2014We cannot believe that a week has gone already!
We could hear the excited students chanting “Summer School Is Cool” as they were learning new skills and having fun! The adventuresome campers proved yet again that there is no mountain high enough or a river wide enough for their unyielding spirit.
The adventure has just begun.

First day of NOVA Summer School and Camp
6/17/2014Our summer is officially off to a GREAT start! Our Little Starts and Flowers were adorable; the Dream Catchers were whimsical; the Dragonflies were magical; the Golden Fireflies were glowing, and the Emeralds shone brightly on the first school day. This creative assemblage of students made our first day of summer school unique. Getting ready for camp is part of the fun! The NOVA campers where in for some great fun undertaking their first challenge: rock-climbingon the not so high, but nonetheless surprisingly steep mountain Vodno. This made their first day of camp incredibly exciting, and at the same time challenging. For all those thrill seekers out there NOVA summer camp was THE place to be.

HS Teachers’s Appreciation Day
6/9/2014Friday, June 6th, was a special day for our high school teachers who were being honored for their commitment, enthusiasm and hard work over the course of the academic 2013-14. A special celebration was organized in their honor, with lots of food, drinks, music, flowers and presents. The teachers were very happy to see that around 20 high school parents took this opportunity to show their appreciation by cooking food, bringing drinks, organizing music and making this party a memorable, most relaxing and fun event they have ever had. Dear parents, now it is our turn to say THANK YOU!

6th grade excursion to Tetovo and its surroundings
5/30/2014On 28 May, NOVA 6th-grade students chaperoned by their teachers Marina Spasovska, Svetlana Guguchevska and Jasmina Dzurovska-Blazeska set out on a field trip to the city of Tetovo and its neighbouring municipality of Brvenica. Our first stop on the road snaking through Tetovo to Brvenica was the Painted Mosque (Šarena Džamija), a famed 15th-century landmark whose distinctive floral wallpaintings defy tradition. We then proceeded to another Ottoman monument in Tetovo, Arabati Baba Tekke, and learned about its tempestuous history. Finally, after our applied Social Studies class was over, we sought rest and relaxation in the shades of the restaurant and bakery Bakal in Brvenica. Thanks to the hospitality of the owners, parents of our 6th-grade student Marija Simjanoska, we peeked into the restaurant's kitchen, learned how bread and other pastries are made, and enjoyed several hours of lunching, fun, and games.

CEESA HS Girls Volleyball tournament in Helsinki
5/22/2014The 2014 CEESA Volleyball Tournament took place at the International School of Helsinki in Finland. For the first time, the NOVA girls’ team was facing the challenge of defending the gold medal from last year’s tournament, and the pressure was high. On the way to the finals, they won all five matches in a round robin system of play and were impatiently waiting for who they’ll play in the big Final. Again, for the fourth time in a row, they faced ISB from Belgrade, Serbia, and after a brilliant fight and a thrilling third set, the final score (2:1) ended in Belgrade’s favor. This is just stronger motivation for our NOVA team to practice harder and prepare for next year’s event even better. They can’t wait!

CEESA HS Boys Volleyball Tournament in Belgrade
5/21/2014This year the CEESA HS Boys Volleyball tournament took place in Belgrade, May 16th and 17th. Due to the great volleyball interest among our HS boys, instead of only one NOVA was able to field two teams for this tournament, with a total of 15 students in attendance. After the round robin phase and the semi-final matches both NOVA teams qualified to play in the placement games, without a single defeat.
In the 3rd place match our NOVA B team showed great character and after an exhausting five sets (3:2), managed to win the bronze medal by defeating the team from Pechersk School International (Kiev).
In the match for the 1st place NOVA A team played versus the team of the host school, International School of Belgrade. In by far the most exciting match of the tournament, it was narrowly defeated, winning second place and securing the silver medal.
Winning two trophies was a perfect ending to the spring volleyball season. Players and coaches were more than happy with their accomplishment. They're already looking forward to repeating and improving on this year's success at the next CEESA HS boys volleyball tournament to take place in May 2015.

Drama class performance, a parody of the Academy Awards
5/20/2014#DisOscars 2014 is a play the students from the Drama class created on their own. The dialogues, the characters, the costumes – it is all a product of their own creativity and ideas. The classes were used as an open space to rehearse, explore and improvise theatrical scenes. It is a parody of this year’s Academy Award ceremony. On our classes we talked about Peter Brook and Jerzi Grotowski, theater directors that contributed to the art of theater in many aspects. The first one says “Give me any empty space and I will make theater”. We decided to turn the School’s auditorium into stage where the illusion of a theater will be created. The second one, Grotowski, talks about the elements needed for a play to be created. He puts props, costumes, lights, music aside since the actors themselves on stage can create the illusion of it all. “Actors and an audience is enough”. We strongly believe you will enjoy the performance made with lots of energy, enthusiasm and devotion.
An important notice: the budget gathered from the tickets sold will be donated to the victims of the floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
