Children Author Kalina Maleska Encourages Reading Curiosity among NOVA ES Students✨

✏️NOVA had the pleasure to host Kalina Maleska, acclaimed author, translator, university professor, and researcher, who read stories from her book “Arno Ama” in front of the second and third-grade students.

📖 The book, one of our students’ favorites, represents a collection of modern short stories about the adventures of her titular characters, Damjan and Marko, based on the author’s children. During the event, Kalina shared that she draws inspiration from her childhood experiences and her daily interactions with young children. The moral in each story focuses on issues and problems children face in their everyday life, their kindergarten or school experiences, and games played in the local neighborhood. Through a well-adapted narration, the author highlights the importance of openly discussing loneliness, exclusion, the lack of care for the environment, and finding true friends.
📚 Maleska’s visit is part of the Month of Reading Celebration initiative at NOVA. This week’s activities include daily guest readers in each classroom, including staff and parents who enjoyed playing the role of teachers and getting excellent feedback and innovative, original questions from our young students.
