Transdisciplinary inquiry and exploration are one of the core aspects of the International Baccalaureate programme at NOVA. Articulating this knowledge in a form of an artistic expression is the desired result as defined in the IB learning outcomes. For this purpose, 10th-grade students taking the dance class explored different movements through contemporary artistic concepts and transferred their gained knowledge to charcoal paintings.

The unit they explored combines several artistic disciplines, such as art, dance, and music. The purpose of this lesson is learning how choreographers use the compositional aspects when creating a performative piece; thus, the students used various movement techniques, combining different dance elements while drawing inspiration from personal experience or abstract reasoning on a certain pressing issue. During this process, they demonstrated their collaborative skills by working in pairs in a limited space and had the chance to develop and use their creative thinking skills.
