NOVA International School is an IB Middle Years Programme candidate school

One of NOVA’s key aims during the 2019-2020 academic year was to secure candidacy in the International Baccalaureate’s (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP). The MYP is a challenging learners framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. The MYP is a five-year program (grades 6-10), and students who complete the MYP will be well-prepared to undertake NOVA's IB Diploma Programme (DP). The IB program is considered one of the best preparations for continuing university studies across the world, at recognized institutions of higher learning.

We are pleased to announce that we were granted candidacy in the MYP as of February 18th, 2020. We will be commencing our MYP program from August 2020 and work through the authorization process with the IB, with the target of becoming fully authorized, no later than the academic 2023-24.

In the interim the school will be provided access to the IB Programme Resource Centre, containing important resources required for authorization. The school has created a clear action plan leading to authorization and allocated an appropriate budget for program implementation, including providing professional development opportunities for all teachers involved in the MYP. Our new school campus has been designed to reflect the new MYP reality. We look forward to planning and facilitating a truly inquiry, standards based program. This commitment to changing and supporting best professional practices will ensure the learning and future growth our school community.

*Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the IB Career-related Certificate (IBCC). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
