Nova students take part in 'First Lego League' and win 5th place

This year, the First Lego League challenged our MS kids to “go into orbit”. They were asked to build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO ® MINDSTORMS ® technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game. In the past two months, our teams worked together to find solutions for various tasks, all related to the challenge theme INTO THE ORBIT. This season, the teams were transported into space, where they had to explore, challenge themselves, and innovate in the vast expanse of space. The NOVA teams made two robot designs, and programed their robots to do various missions.

Within the game, they applied many of the FLL core values:

Discovery: We explore new skills and ideas.
Innovation: We use creativity and persistence to solve problems.
Impact: We apply what we learn to improve our world.
Inclusion: We respect each other and embrace our differences.
Teamwork: We are stronger when we work together.
Fun: We enjoy and celebrate what we do!

By exploring new ideas with creativity and persistence to solve problems and a strong teamwork, one of the NOVA teams made it to the high 5th place out of 23 teams from 11 different CEESA schools. We were very proud and truly enjoyed their success.

The FLL challenge competition for CEESA was hosted by American School of Warsaw, 15-18. Nov, 2018. We are already excited about the next year’s challenge.
