Think Freedom project travels the World

NOVA and the Fine Arts department were one of the schools in Macedonia that worked with Mrs. Edina Selskovikj on her 'Think Freedom' project that will be on display as an art installation tomorrow as a part of the Skopje Summer Festival [Skopsko Leto] 2017. This project, began in Sarajevo in 2015 and is now traveling throughout the Balkan region, as well as countries in Latin America, Asia, and Africa in order for a final presentation to take place in New York in 2020. At its core it's an installation composed of several thousand elements, sculptures that represent birds of hope, peace, and freedom. In each host city, workshops are organized with high school students dealing with culture, art, and how these venues can be used to communicate a positive message to the world. The project requests from students to provide their meaning of the word 'freedom'. They write, in any language they wish, in a form of a few sentences, which later get transcribed on the actual art installation. These messages and student sculptures join the installation together with previous messages by students from other host cities. The installation is presented to each future host city, containing the work of the preceding cities.
