HS Boys soccer team brings gold from Belgrade

This year’s CEESA HS soccer tournament took place in Belgrade. As last year's champion team, our school arrived carrying with them many expectations. Our fresh, young, and inexperienced team practiced hard for two months, keeping in mind that our main goal was to represent the school in the best possible light. We were fortunate to play in excellent weather conditions on a perfect soccer pitch, ideal prerequisites for a great tournament.

We started the tournament successfully, winning both matches against the schools from Helsinki (3:1) and Riga (2:1). The second day proved to be more challenging, with an easy win over the school from Kiev (5:0), and a hard fought victory over the International School from Belgrade (1:0), our biggest competitor for this year’s trophy. These wins qualified us directly for the tournament final.

This was a second time in a row that we have played in the final. We were very proud to make it this far, with the previous wins boosting our confidence and raising expectations. The game proved to be an exciting clash of two able sides, with our students dominating on the soccer pitch for most of the game. We’re proud of our students showing fair play, playing with lots of enthusiasm, and wining the match 5:0, against the school from Helsinki..
