NOVA Japanese Club, Haiku Workshop

Last Friday (11.11.2016) the Japanese Club at NOVA High School organized a Haiku Workshop. The workshop was led by Vladimir Martinovski: an associate professor, teaching the subject of Comparative Poetics at the Department of General and Comparative Literature at Sts Cyril and Methodius University. Professor Martinovski is also a published poet; his works include Sea Moon (haiku and tanka), Hidden Poems (haiku), and And Water and Earth and Fire and Air (haiku). During the workshop the students learned about the history of haiku, read haiku poetry as well as tried to write haiku poems themselves. They also had an opportunity to discuss Japanese poetry and culture with the guest lecturer Yokari Ota - a professor from Japan currently teaching Japanese Language at the Sts Cyril and Methodius University. This activity was led by our student Tamara Barsova.
