Promoting a culture of scientific inquiry - A FiRC Guest Lecturer

On Friday September 16th, the NOVA community was treated to its first guest lecturer in the Foundations in Research Course (FiRC), Dr. Rodney Rosalia. Dr. Rosalia presented on the topic of "Harnessing the Immune System to Fight Cancer". This high level lecture focused on the cutting edge research experience of Dr. Rosalia, who is NOVA's new HS Scientific Inquiry Coordinator. Dr. Rosalia shared with students and faculty his work in immunology and cancer research. Dr. Rosalia discussed issues such as research ethics, evidence based approaches to the health of young adults, and the scientific methodology which underpinned his research. Students had the opportunity to ask questions after the lecture, which they used to engage with Dr. Rosalia and to further their understanding of the field of medical research.
